Post 9: Changing the Study Programme
Thinking about this, I feel like there’s not that much
that I would like to change about studying journalism here, but the things that
I would like to change are really important, especially for our future.
One of the biggest issues that we have as students
here in ICEI, is the lack of equipment for our television and audio visual
courses in general. We only have 3 cameras that have to be use and share with
around 150 students, I know that sounds crazy but is our reality. So I thinks
that would be one of the biggest and more important changes that I would do.
Other thing that I would change if I could is the
basis of the career, I like that we learn about really different topics so our
chances in the future are higher, but we have so much theoretical courses for 5
years of career. I would reinforce the practical part instead of teaching that
much about theory.
With the new curriculum mesh we only have one practice
at the end of our career, for me that’s unfair in many ways. I think it should
be optional to do more than one practice, even when only one would be considered
as official. But with our career the best way to learn is with practice, especially
in the real world, so they should give us the chance to do it in a more formal
and regular way.
For me, this are the changes that ICEI and journalism career
need urgently, so everyone would have a better basis before jumping into the
real world.
See you around!!!

The issue with the cameras is so annoying. I hope the university could get funds to be able to buy more.
ResponderBorrarI agree with you, we have many theoretical courses, but the positive thing is that the university makes us think a lot.
ResponderBorrarI agree with you about the equipment problem and the demanding nature of the theorical courses. Also, I find it kind of scary to not have many practical courses, like the idea of leaving unprepared straight to the working area freightens me.
